Autoglym Ashley Seward Motorsport makes car switch for Winton due to delivery delays

Autoglym Ashley Seward Motorsport will run its Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR for Tom Oliphant in the TCR Australia round at Winton Motor Raceway this weekend due to delays in deliveries of parts to its Lynk & Co 03 TCR.

The team successfully debuted the Lynk & Co 03 TCR at Phillip Island where the Brit showed strong potential by qualifying in the top five and netted two top ten finishes, despite a puncture in the first race.

But the former BTCC driver will have to wait until the fourth round of the TCR Australia season at Queensland Raceway to return behind the wheel of his Lynk & Co race car due to delays in overseas part deliveries.

This means that Tom Oliphant will drive the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR temporarily this weekend, the same car he drove in the Symmons Plains Raceway season opener.

Team owner Ashley Seward: “It’s obviously not an ideal situation as we have made really strong progress with the car during testing since the previous race and we were all keen to implement that at Winton.

“But we fully understand the challenges of the logistics, especially in the current situation of global supply chains. We are thankful for the support we have received from Geely Group Motorsport in the current situation where we together have exhausted all options. We will continue to push forward this weekend look forward to returning with the Lynk & Co for the next round.”

Geely Group Motorsport Customer Sport Director Ron Hartvelt: “We want to extend a big thank you to Ashley Seward Motorsport for their understanding and efforts regarding the current situation.

“We have together investigated all possibilities to get the necessary parts to Australia in time, but it is unfortunately not possible due to unforeseen delays in the delivery process. We wish them the best of luck this weekend and look forward to be back on track with them at Queensland Raceway.”

The third round of the 2023 Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series takes place at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria on 09-11 June.
