Consistency the Key on Return to Home Circuit for Holdsworth

Brett Holdsworth will tackle his home circuit at Queensland Raceway aboard the Breeze Holiday Parks Camaro with consistency his ever present goal as he hits the penultimate round of the championship in Turtle Wax Trans Am title contention

Entering round five of six Holdsworth is fourth in the standings, just 45 points off the series lead. Holdsworth has worked himself into contention courtesy of remarkable consistency, finishing in the top 10 every race with just one result lower than seventh – a ninth place at Sydney Motorsport Park.

SMP was also the scene for a breakthrough result, as Holdsworth stood on the podium for the first time in 2022 with a third place in the opening race of the weekend after his best qualifying result of the year in third.

Returning to his home track at Queensland Raceway will give Holdsworth a boost off the track with a large group of family, friends and staff from his local businesses all heading out to support him. Holdsworth’s on track history at his home venue is not as deep as some other tracks around the country, a quirk that doesn’t trouble him.

“I’m eager to get back behind the wheel, I didn’t get out to the test day they had at QR a couple weeks ago but I’m not too bothered by it,” said Holdsworth.

“I actually haven’t raced in Ipswich as much as some other tracks but I have enough experience there and a bit of on-board footage from my last drive around there. It will be a really cool round though because I’ve got heap of people coming out to support and check out what I’ve been doing this year.

“On paper QR is a very simple track but there’s a lot to be gained set-up wise, we’ll just continue on our game plan of consistency and not putting ourselves in risky positions.

“I said when SVG was set to race that the benchmark we’d have with another Camaro up front would be really useful, so now we’ll get to see that with Brodie instead. He should be pretty quick and maybe he’ll mix it with those guys in front of us in the points which could be helpful.

Round five of the Turtle Wax Trans Am takes place from August 5-7 at Queensland Raceway.
