Max Vidau will return home to South Australia this weekend when the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship hosts round five of their season at The Bend Motorsport Park.
After moving to the Gold Coast at the beginning of 2022, Vidau is looking forward to catching up with his friends and extended family at a familiar racetrack.
Following two rounds at circuits where Vidau has never raced, a visit to his previous ‘home ground’ has him confident of a strong showing.
His 2021 visit to Tailem Bend netted his first podium in Carrera Cup, coming third in race two. Vidau also finished on the podium in every race across six starts at the track during his stint in the Porsche Sprint Challenge.
“Going racing at Tailem Bend is really exciting not just because I know the track very well but being able to catch up with my friends and family who I haven’t seen for a while,” said Vidau.
“Mum and Dad have been coming to the races, but I haven’t seen my two dogs since I moved up here (to the Gold Coast) and I’m pretty keen to see them again!
“It should be a pretty fun weekend, we’ll work hard when it comes down to hitting the track but I’ll be able to unwind and chill out with everyone in between.
“As for on-track, we’ve found a new direction in the setup that better suits my driving style. Luke (Youlden) has gelled really well with what the team had been doing but for me we’ve discovered we need to set the car up a bit differently, so that should certainly help this weekend. “We tested at The Bend earlier this year and felt pretty comfortable there, and we tested at Sandown early last week where we trialled our new setup direction. It all points to a really good round.”
Round five of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship takes place from July 29-31 at The Bend Motorsport Park.
