Holdsworth Confident of Extra Speed at SMP

#99 Breeze Holiday Parks driver Brett Holdsworth believes the previous round of the Trans Am series saw his Ashley Seward Motorsport team unlock their car speed and bodes well for this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Holdsworth currently sits fourth in the Championship and is coming off the back of his strongest round of the season so far, finishing seventh, fourth and fifth. The hallmark of Holdsworth’s championship campaign is his unrelenting consistency. In his entire Trans-Am career which consists of 25 races, Holdsworth has finished in the top 10 every time – save for three DNF results.

The ability for Holdsworth to progress across a weekend of racing is vital as well, with the #99 Breeze Holiday Parks Camaro finishing race three higher than the start of race one in every round this season.

After struggling in the opening rounds for a general lack of car speed, Holdsworth feels that changes made in Bathurst have unlocked the car’s potential.

“Bathurst was a key round for us, we definitely unlocked some speed. Back at Sydney last year I was really lacking on the front end but that’s exactly what we found in Bathurst,” said Holdsworth.

“If there’s anywhere where you actually need a bit of turn in, it’s Sydney Motorsport Park. I went and looked through all the notes as well and analysed where we’ve been missing a bit.

“We just need to put together another consistent round but hopefully a couple spots higher so we can bridge that gap to the top three in the Championship which has been the goal since round one.

“Qualifying under lights is unreal, we got to do that last year. This year we get to race under lights as well which is going to be so cool, it really reminds me of the good old days in Karting racing around at night in Ipswich.”
