Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia 12 Hour Entry Headlined by Lowndes

Ashley Seward Motorsport will field a special entry to the 2022 edition of the Bathurst 12 Hour, supporting the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia with a special livery and a star studded driving roster.

Craig Lowndes and Alex Davison, both former Supercars Championship full-timers, join ASM for the endurance classic. The PCFA is close to heart for both drivers with a history of prostate cancer running in the Lowndes family and a scare for Davison’s father which was thankfully treated.

The pair are joined by existing ASM drivers Scott Taylor and Geoff Emery, both of whom compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup Championship.

Set up by Taylor, the entry is designed to raise awareness for the foundation and bring attention to the disease which affects tens of thousands of men each year. Funds are being raised through a donation link – www.pcfau.org/car222 – with donation points at the event, and at the town-to-track activation on Thursday.

The quartet all have an affinity for either the mountain or the Porsche brand they will represent on the weekend. Lowndes has won the 12 Hour on two occasions previously in addition to his seven Bathurst 1000 victories, Davison is a former factory driver for Porsche and has 17 Bathurst 1000 starts under his belt. Emery is a three time Australian GT Champion and runner up in the 2021 Carrera Cup Pro-Am Championship, Taylor also has a multitude of experience in GT competition and Porsche racing.

Lowndes
“My family has a strong history of Prostate Cancer so it is an issue that has always been close to my heart.

“I’ve had a long relationship with the foundation and their efforts to raise awareness about the disease, it can be a taboo subject for many men and it is important to talk about it and just go get checked.

“When this opportunity was presented, I couldn’t get behind it quick enough. It’s like the ideal weekend; a chance to raise awareness for a really important cause but also spend a weekend at Bathurst in a Porsche! It wasn’t hard to say yes.”

Davison
“I’m really excited to be part of this event again, the cause we’re supporting is very important and our driver line-up is very relaxed and ready to just have some fun.

“It is close to my heart, my dad had Prostate Cancer but fortunately they were able to catch it quickly and he made a full recovery, but it was still a tough process for him to go through. Being able to support the foundation this weekend is very cool, and we just want to raise as much awareness and money as possible for them.

“To have craig on board is fantastic and brings even more exposure to the entry. Working with Scott as a co-driver is a seamless transitions as well, I’ve been doing drive coaching for him in Carrera Cup this year.”

Emery
“This is a fantastic opportunity to support prostate cancer awareness, it’s really important and it’s a big issue in men’s health

“Pretty excited to join the others at the mountain, it will be a bloody good experience. I’ve raced a Pro-Am Porsche with Alex before, but I’ve never raced with Craig before. I’m hoping they can teach me a few tricks; I’ll certainly look over their data and see what I can learn.

“We’re all here to have fun and raise funds for PCFA but as racing drivers, we’ll be going for that class win and maybe we can sneak into the top 10 outright.”
