Triple Duty for ASM at Queensland Raceway

Ashley Seward Motorsport will tackle three categories in one weekend at Queensland Raceway this weekend, as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.

The team will feature in Supercheap Auto TCR Australia, Trans Am and Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge, all of which are running the fourth round of their respective seasons.

In TCR Australia, the Lynk & Co returns to the field after making its debut at Phillip Island in the hands of Tom Oliphant. However, the British driver won’t be in Queensland for this one, as Oliphant gets married to his partner Gen in England. Tim Slade will drive the Autoglym backed car, now carrying the #11 for this weekend. The Supercars Championship star tested the Lynk & Co recently in preparation for this round and was immediately impressed.

“I really enjoyed the test day in the Lynk & Co, it has a pretty good history in Europe and been extremely successful over there. From my limited TCR experience it’s the most enjoyable TCR car that I’ve driven. Thanks to Tom, Ash and the team for the opportunity to have a drive, we’ll extract the most from ourselves and maximise our results,” said Slade.

For Brett Holdsworth in Trans Am, round four marks his home event for the season. The Breeze Holiday Parks Camaro has been fast all year and after recovering from his pre-Winton bike riding accident, Holdsworth is raring to get back behind the wheel. Despite some bad luck across the first three rounds, he’s just 115 points off the top of the table, and 46 points off third where he finished in 2022. The category also takes in a four-race format for the first time this year.

“The home event is going to be mega, Mum and Dad are coming out and I’ll have a fair few of the crew from TPS Group, PriPark and Breeze Holiday Parks coming to check the race car out as well. I’m just pumped to get the weekend going. The car is really fast, especially over one lap, I don’t think a front row start is far away at all. The shorter races will probably help in that regard, we can just hammer out the short run speed all weekend,” said Holdsworth.

Our quartet in Sprint Challenge will be enjoying their shortest break between rounds this season, jumping in for practice at QR just under two weeks after wrapping up race three in Sydney. Slavin will be carrying good momentum after a new personal best result last time out, but he’ll be tackling Queensland Raceway for the first time in his racing career.

Andrew Goldie secured third place in race one during last year’s visit to QR and will look to build off of that knowledge at another event where Qualifying takes place on the same day as both practice sessions. Ross McGregor will have an advantage in the resumption of the battle between he and Tim Wolfe as the latter is also learning the circuit for the first time.

It’s going to be a busy weekend for the ASM crew, with the action taking place from August 11-13 at Queensland Raceway, with coverage of Saturday and Sunday live on Stan Sport!
