Goldie Returns to Tackle ‘European-Esque’ Tailem Bend

Andrew Goldie returns to the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge field with Ashley Seward Motorsport alongside Ross McGregor at The Bend Motorsport Park.

Goldie and McGregor are fifth and sixth in the Pro-Am standings after three rounds, despite Goldie’s absence at the previous round in Sandown. Goldie picked up third at the opening round of the season, while McGregor’s best result thus far is a seventh place which came at Queensland Raceway.

Last time Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge visited Tailem Bend in 2019, both Goldie and McGregor were in action with the former in Class B and the latter in Pro-Am. Goldie won races two and three while McGregor picked up a second and a third.

Not only is Goldie a skilled race car driver but the Cirrus Aircrafts sponsored competitor also enjoys his time as a pilot. With international borders reopened Goldie took the opportunity to travel overseas with a visit to the world’s biggest air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The chance to return home and compete at one of his favourite tracks was too good to pass up.

“I love this track and everything about it. The Bend has outstanding facilities and the track itself is very European-Esque which is very well suited for the Porsche’s,” said Goldie.

“I have had a fantastic time since the last round I did at Queensland Raceway, travelling overseas again now that we’re allowed to. I visited Europe and the U.S.A and indulged in my other hobby which is piloting, with a visit to Oshkosh. I feel very refreshed and I’m excited to get back to my motorsport adventures this weekend.

“The variety over the course of the lap at The Bend, it has some nice undulation and great flow. I find that it’s really possible to get in to a rhythm and it’s so enjoyable.

“We’re very lucky with the way we end the season going to The Bend, Phillip Island and Bathurst which are I think the three best tracks in the country and world class circuits. I am really looking forward to the weekend,” concluded Goldie.

Round four of the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge takes place from October 21-23 at The Bend Motorsport Park as part of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships.
