Vidau Well Prepared for Sandown Assault

Max Vidau believes he is well positioned to mount a challenge at Sandown Raceway in round six of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship for TekworkX Motorsport.

After a series of rounds at new tracks for Vidau, a return to familiar ground in Tailem Bend saw the Tyrepower racer demonstrate race leading pace. While his weekend was set back after an incident in race one, Vidau charged through the field twice to finish off the weekend.

While Sandown doesn’t offer a lot of obvious overtaking spots, thanks partly to its short 13 turn layout, Vidau feels his overtaking master classes through the year give him an advantage on what could be a wet track.

“I’ve probably passed the most cars this year, I’ve had to come through from the back a few times,” said Vidau.

“This weekend could be quite chaotic, we haven’t had a wet race yet so there will probably be a few more overtakes than normal which leans into a bit of a strength of mine I feel. I’m comfortable in the wet as well, coming from a dirt background I feel right at home with the car moving around.

“We did a test day here where it rained and then dried out so we’ve got a good grasp on all the conditions we might see on the weekend and a setup direction as well,” concluded Vidau.

The action for round six of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Championship takes place at Sandown Raceway from August 19-21.
